Now that the puppies are 8 weeks old, the puppies are heading to their new homes. One flying out to his new mom and dad Friday, One getting picked up on Friday evening and another possibly heading to a forever home Friday night. 2 have already left for their homes and the others are now just awaiting pick up times. This experience has been an amazing one for sure. I have loved every minute of it and will miss the littles when they all head off to their new homes but am so happy they have found such amazing and wonderful families.
I am sorry it has been a while since my last tale so I will rehash a few juicy ones all in one for y'all, ENJOY!
Not many people believe me when I say I can trust my dog with baby bunnies... truth be told, I can barely believe it myself. Seeing this girl with them the way she is absolutely makes my heart sing. What a beautiful soul she is. Even though she can test your sanity and sasses back along with speaks over you most of the time she is truly a wonderful dog and I need to remember that even on one of her "bad" days where her listening ears may not work as well as we all know they do
The things that go on around here... while filing waters this little munchkin ran up to me and I best down to inspect it. It came closer and when I reached out and touched it, it got scared, screeched and ran. Right into the grip of both dogs. Thankfully Stella stopped chasing it when I told her to and rumely caught it in his big paws and then looked at me. I scooped it up and made sure it was OK. Still mostly bald and pokey so definitely not a fledgling. I searched the yard of trees for nests that could have been it's and it seemed two birds followed me chirping the entire time. I found a nest that was vacant and I got the ladder. I placed him up inside this vacant nest where at least he will be safe and mom and dad will be able to care for him still. I am so thankful for the wildlife rehab training I've had.
This week the April babies all turned 7 and 8 weeks old! See how they are growing and what they have been up to in this weeks blog!
Now that the babies are going on 4 and 5 weeks old they are starting to look like French lops!
4/29 in Northern Minnesota was absolutely beautiful so what better way to enjoy it than taking the buns out of the barn for a nice run in the grass and some photos?
Honey, Milo's Granddaughter who resides at Milo & Me is an absolute character and always has been. She reminds me so much of her uncle Max.
Milo & Me prides itself on the temperament and quality of rabbits that are sold for show and pets each year.
#throwbackthursday to my senior pictures with my pups. To me this was a special time. I got lady the collie when I was 8, Harley the Newfoundland /great Dane/Gordon setter/border collie /huskey when I was 15 and Tennessee the golden retriever when I was 17. all my pups in one photo along with my mom's mini dachshund Abby. I treasure these photos more than anyone knows. Lady was almost ten, Harley only 3 years and Tennessee only 6 months old. this was taken spring of '09. Lady has since passed away (2011) Harley is almost ten and Tennessee just turned 7. Time flies. I can not believe it has been as long as it has. #tbt
And this, my friends, is what happens when one little rumely gets greedy, leaves his bone because he wants his sisters. She takes her over to his and lays down with both. Poor fella... has to sit and watch this Lol he's barking at her with his raspy little bark (he still has his puppy bark) while she paws his face giving him a look of, 'well, next time don't leave it unattended ' my what great entertainment I have, haven't even had to put the tv on. ;) who needs America's funniest home videos when you have your own sitcom going on right in front of you. This girl did a lot of healing on my heart and doesn't even know it. In 2011 lady, my collie of 12.5 years, passed away in my arms. It was that Christmas after she had passed that I saw a poster of the sweetest collie puppies at the feed store. I went home and immediately told my mom and I had hoped to get one. She broke down into tears immediately at the mention of collie puppies. I realized then that she was not ready for another one in our lives, and neither was I. The next year I was feeling like I may be ready, but not for the sable color my old girl was it had to be something different. I contacted breeders in my state looking with no luck. Nothing felt right. Several months passed when I was cleaning out an old drawer and found that number for the collie puppies over a year previous. I decided I'd give her a call and see. To my dismay, she had one blue Merle collie female left. The people had backed out last minute and she was gorgeous! I told my mom and she didn't break down in tears like she had in the past she just sadly asked if I was ready. I put a lot of thought into it and felt I was. I was however torn between keeping back my baby bunny Max who was so special to me and getting this puppy. I decided I was the best home for Max and I could not part with him and the breeder understood completely. Then Christmas time of 2013, I got an email that I was not expecting. It was that breeder saying she would be having her last litter with that pair of collies and was wondering if I would still like one. We had just gotten case, our Pyrenees puppy and it was difficult to imagine a secknd puppy but I said Yes. Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes! Patiently We waited for the call on if the puppies had been born and finally they were. I picked Stella out at 1 day old and it was love at first sight. That was the one. Funny thing is I'd wanted a male, not female. Things work in mysterious ways sometimes!
#flashbackfriday to the day We had to say goodbye to my sweet Kitty Bo Bo when Case was only a few months old. Never in a million years did I think I'd lose him in just nine short months later. it has been almost a full 4 months since losing my sweet boy and the pain is still there. I still ache to kiss that big forehead of his before bed, hear his breathing at the base of the bed while I fall asleep and some mornings I still find myself waiting for him to come in when my alarm goes off for his morning snuggles of being half on the bed because he never did figure out how to get his back end up there Lol. Stella still will lay on his grave and look at me Sadly but with rumely now in our lives it has been a little easier to breath, to love and to survive the pain of losing our sweet boy so young and suddenly. This flashback is for my first boy who can never be replaced and will always have a piece of my heart. Still miss him every day. #greatpyrenees #greatpyreneesofthehour #gentlegiantoftheday #missthatface #missingcase #takentoosoon
Rumley week 12
This week I am really testing mommy and daddy. I want to know what I can do so I do all of it to see if There's something I can't do. I learn quick and usually don't do that again! I don't like being told no but I like the things mommy and daddy give me instead of the bad things they say I shouldn't have. I am growing up to he a big boy really quick! I can almost stand up to sister but she's still too quick and big. Some day I will be bigger and stronger so until then, I eat! I don't like being away from mommy and daddy and I get really bored at night in my room so I bark and usually mommy comes to bring me outside (I love it outside! ) and gives me loves and back to sleep I have to go. Some nights I don't want to sleep again so I will bark until morning. Mommy and daddy say when I'm bigger and older I will be able to sleep near them and sister but for now I'm too little. Not for long! I went to my first vet appointment alone without my sister and I didn't like the car as much without her to annoy. Then I got to see my aunt and grandma and some other really nice people who gave me belly rubs! I love belly rubs! I can't wait to see what I will get into in week 13 I'm ready to roll! Rumley week 11
In my 11th week of life I learned even more! Like, I am able to jump now! Yep, that's right. Mommy and daddy were very surprised to see me meet them at the door one day. I got Lots of love that night cause I was a very good boy and only had a really little accident! I love to make them happy! And mommy got out of bed really quick when she heard me jump the even taller gate one night because I just wanted to see mommy and daddy and couldn't wait! Daddy almost can't fit his fingers around my leg I am getting so big and they always say that I am cute. Hehe I Already know that, silly mommy and daddy! my favorite time of day is when both mommy and daddy are home with me. I tend to be a little extra lovey with mom when dad is not home. I just love them both so much my extra love needs to go somewhere! I now know sit, shake and other paw and I really enjoy walks and I try to be really good but sometimes I really like to stop quick and grab the leashes. I also really love going out to see the bunnies with mom every day and I like to eat their food before they can. Mommy says that's not good but I disagree! It really is good! |
